Members of New Day Church
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:4–5
If you've attended New Day Church for a while and are involved in church life you have the opportunity to formally become a member of the church. Church membership isn't about rights, rather it is a privilege and opportunity to participate and serve more sacrificially.
As a believer you are already part of the body of Christ so we simply want to call you into somewhere you can express a deeper level of participation and discipleship within a local faith community.
We run a membership course twice a year, once in the spring and once in the autumn and anyone who believes and has decided to make New Day Church their spiritual home can explore this opportunity.
The course usually lasts about 1.5 hours and gives some of the leaders chance to get to know a bit more about you, it gives you the chance to get to know a bit more about us and where we think God is leading us as a church and it helps you understand the commitment of being a member - because that's exactly what membership is!
After the course is completed you then go away to think and pray before formalising membership. Once this is done you are presented to the church on a Sunday morning and we pray for you and celebrate your deeper commitment to us as a church family. We love it when folks decide they want to take up their cross and journey with us and make that choice to serve the King and the Kingdom here at New Day Church.
At New Day Church we have the following expectations of our members:
- You are a born again believer
- You agree with our church statement of faith (EA statement of faith as found on our website)
- You agree to ATTEND - join us at church on a Sunday as often as you're able. You don't need to let us know when you're not coming but we'd love to see you at least twice a month.
- You agree to COMMIT - commit to getting involved with us at church by joining a midweek Thrive group. It's the best way to know us and for us to know you. Thrive groups offer the best setting for you to grow in faith and discipleship by developing intimate Christian relationships.
- You agree to SERVE - find a place to serve at church in one of our various ministries or teams. There's a variety of stuff to get involved in to suit everyone and we function best when we're in it together.
- You agree to GIVE - regularly give a portion of your income to church to support all we do and are. There is no set requirement to giving, just give what you can when you can.
Also in return for becoming a member you will be invited to attend our bi-annual members meetings where we outline in detail where the church stands spiritually and practically and vote on important decisions about new Elders, Trustees and Pastors of the church.
Please prayerfully consider membership; it is a serious matter as along with the above key areas you are covenanting before the Lord to protect the unity of the Spirit, the bond of peace and the good reputation of the church and its members.
For more information about membership or when the next membership course is, please speak with one of the Elders.
